2008 Activities

Easter Egg Hunt, Easter Weekend

The Lions Club along with the Hillsboro Firemen, will host the Annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Albert Field Memorial (city) Park. For all kids up to 3rd grade, prizes will be awarded. The Easter Bunny will also be on hand to greet all the kids. Time of the hunt is 2:00 PM.

Lion's Club Dairy Breakfast, June 22nd, 2008

The Lions Club will be serving pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, coffee and juice at Firemen's Park. The breakfast will start at 7:00 AM and run until 11:00 AM.

 Fourth of July Celebration, July 4th, 2008

On Friday July 4th, 2008 the City of Hillsboro will be sponsoring the best display of fireworks in the entire region! The Lions Club, Firemen, Women's Civic Club, H.E.R.O., and other community organizations all pull together to sponsor a water ski show, "inflatables" play equipment, pie sales, and plenty of food and beer.

Emergency Personnel Steak Feed, held Mid August

Each year the Hillsboro Lions Club recognizes our local Emergency Personnel: The Hillsboro Firemen, Hillsboro EMTs, Hillsboro Police Dept. Vernon County Sheriffs Dept. with a delicious Steak Feed and all the trimmings, held at the Hillsboro Firemen's Park.

55th Annual Firemen's Labor Day Festival, August 29 thru Sept 1st

The Hillsboro Lions hold their Annual Lions Bingo at the Hillsboro Firemen's Community Center on Sunday August 31st. Prize money totaling $1,000.00 to be given away. Time of the event is 1 :00 PM. Then don't forget to attend the Firemen's Labor Day Celebration at the Firemen's Park. Plenty of Food, Fun and Games all weekend there. Then join everyone for the Gigantic Labor Day Parade on Monday September 1st starting at 10:30 AM through// Downtown Hillsboro.

Empty Stocking Club, Held Mid-December

Each year, everyone comes together to help needy families in the Hillsboro School District by donating money, food, toys and clothes. Collections points are at County Market, Royal Bank and Farmers State Bank. Even the kids at the Hillsboro Elementary and Hillsboro High School help by donating food and toys. Then one special evening, the Hillsboro Lions Elves and their helpers, prepare the food boxes, and wrap the toys and clothes for Santa Claus to deliver. Approximately 80 families are helped with this major Lions Function.
